Oakland, MD — Garrett County
Step Back in Time
The park was re-established by the Garrett County Historical Society in 1999 following the purchase of the property after a fire destroyed Miller’s Market. The name honors John and Ann Rebecca Dailey who owned and operated the Glades Hotel that was nearby from 1859 to 1881. When the hotel burned down the Dailey’s transformed the property into a public park that ran along the railroad tracks near the train station.
The building façade evokes memories of the Deer Park Hotel with its long porch. The gazebo and gas house, originally part of the hotel, were relocated and restored by the Historical Society. The Gazebo was donated by the Browning Family and grants from the Naylor Family Trust and Community Trust Fund made the restoration possible.
Dailey’s Park is owned and operated by the Historical Society and is open to the public. The park is available for public events, contact the museum at 301-334-3226 for information.
